JOHN BLOOMBERG-RISSMAN after JOSE GARCIA VILLA

"John's Left Forearm"

The Poet's Notes on his Tattoo
The tattoo's text is from Walter Benjamin, "Theses on History" (the last text we have from him, by the way). It's hard to believe that tatt is about 10 yrs old now ...

The image was previously published as cover image on Eileen R. Tabios' FOOTNOTES TO ALGEBRA: Uncollected Poems 1995-2009 (BlazeVOX Books, Buffalo, N.Y., 2009 as well as in the anthology 1000 VIEWS OF GIRL SINGING (Leafe Press, U.K. 2009), the anthology of works inspired by Eileen R. Tabios' poem "The Secret Life of an Angel" and José Garcia Villa's poem "Girl Singing."

John Bloomberg-Rissman, a mashup ethnographer, has been working for the past 15 years or so on Zeitgeist Spam, which is turning into a life project. Three parts have been published so far. He is also co-editor, with Jerome Rothenberg, of Barbaric Vast & Wild: Poems for the Millennium Volume 5.
